Using FoxyCode

  1. FoxyCode's options panel
  2. Insertion cursor settings
  3. Resize the text fields
  4. Toolbar's automatic opening

FoxyCode's options panel

Almost the whole FoxyCode's configuration is done in its options panel. To open it, go in the Tools menu and click on FoxyCode.

Insertion cursor settings

Caret

FoxyCode enables you to configure how the insertion cursor is positioned after a tag insertion. There are two different events:

  1. Simple insertion: Tags are inserted around an empty selection (on both sides of the cursor). In this case, there are two possible options:
    1. Before (by default): the cursor is positioned just before the close tag
    2. After: the cursor is positioned just after the close tag
  2. With selection: Tags are inserted around a selection. In this case, there are three possible options:
    1. Before: the cursor is positioned just before the close tag
    2. Selection (by default): the text selected before insertion is still selected after. So you can insert another tag without re-selecting the text.
    3. After: the cursor is positioned just after the close tag

Resize the text fields

R

FoxyCode is particularly useful when you insert tags in a text field called ‘Quick Reply Field’. These kinds of fields are usually too small in width and in height.

FoxyCode has a function to resize these text fields which are defined by the <textarea> HTML element. By default, this function is disabled. Resize values are customizable and the function can be enabled if you want to.

To enable the function, look for the parameters in the General Settings tab of the FoxyCode’s configuration panel (Tools > FoxyCode > General Settings).

Toolbar's automatic opening

You have the possibility to set up a list of Websites for which the toolbar will open automatically, if it were masked.

This system is disabled by default, because there is no websites in the lits. To enable the system, go under the Ouverture de la Toolbar tab and swtch the menu to Enabled.

You can add sites while clicking on the Add button, after having specified the website URL in the URL field. You can also choose to disable the URL of this site. Thus, the URL of the site is added to the list, but is not active. The active sites are coloured in greens and the others in red.

Click on one of the sites added to modify it. With each modification, the list is safeguarded automatically. There thus does not need to click on the Save button.

The file containing the list of the sites names foxycode_tbcfg.vtm and is in the root directory of your Firefox profile.
